Updated Tuesday 23RD November 2010.

On Tuesday the 23rd of November, The Drama lesson was very interesting. The learning objectives were to 'Participate in a series of relaxation exercises' Also 'Develop an understanding of why it is important for an actor to relax' and also 'Why trust is important in performances'.

I learnt that trust and relaxation is important in acting, for example 'Trust' is important when acting in a stunt or particular scene, where trust is needed to be able to co-operate with the other actor or actress. For example 'Relaxation' is important because stress may be caused and this can cause a problem because it will affect the actor or actresses career or mental health.

During the two lessons, we also did some excercises on creativity. As a group (Tia, Georgee, Suleman, Mohammed, Shakeel and Connor) we had to create a story and also characters based on a particular crime. This performance will be assessed and performed infront of an audience. Our story is about a kidnapping of elderly man, whom is innocent and was sitting in his home, watching TV as normal when 3 men come barging through his window and kidnap him. The police are alerted by the man hitting the 'Emergency Button' for the elderly before being dragged away. [Characters mentioned in newer entries]

We also did a mind map on things in our devised performance such as explorative strategies, storyline and the performance. Every lesson up until the dated performance we will work on the devised piece in our groups. This will be interesting for me because i will be able to see how team work is shown in my group and i can also learn many new things about being co-operative with others.

In our group, we have made new decisions about scenes, layout and characteristics of the emotions in our acting. We easily develop our characters by expressing the character in our vocal and movement skills and also by using imagination to feel how the character's personality would be, especially on the topic type.

Tuesday 18TH January.

Tuesday the 18TH of January's Drama Lesson was really good.
I liked the activities we did.
At the start of the lesson we discussed the ways we can add to character profiles by doing more research on a similar character out of such movie/program that is related to the character we play in the assessment performance.

In our groups (Tia, Georgee, Suleman, Mohammed Jahed, Shakeel, and Connor) we hot seated each character.
Hot seating is where we sit in a seat and ask the person in the seat questions to learn more about their character role in the performance. Questions such as 'Are you gay?' or 'What do you look like?' were really inappropriate and disturbed the concentration of the group alot. I was very annoyed that we didn't go through each character properly and did not learn much about each character because of some inappropriate questions in the hot seating.
Appropriate questions such as 'How do you feel about the kidnap?' and 'What are your interests?' were more likely to get responsive answer.

Then after break, we rehearsed our performances again and thought about the characters actions and emotions we used in the rehearsal. Miss Williams also told us to make a list of any Props, Costumes & Music we would like to include in our performance for next week. This gave us many ideas and included unique items on the list.
Such as:
Police Hat
Police Baton
Plastic Gun
Balaclava
Walking Stick
Driving Wheel
Music;
Game Over by Tine Tempah
Breakage Hard
Mission Impossible

We learnt more about the concept of hot seating.

Tuesday 11th January 2011

Drama on Tuesday the 11th of January 2011 was a well taught lesson.
Mostly, We rehearsed our assessment performances which was very simple because we knew alot about it.
We also had to create another scene.
In my group which members were Mohammed Jahed, Tia Williams, Connor Brookes, Georgee Frost, Shakeel, Suleman Miah, created a scene in a judges court where we planned a scene of where we put the 2 kidnappers into jail for LIFE. However, characters have switched which instead of Mohammed Jahed being the 'Old Man', Connor Brookes is now playing that part.

There were 3 people in the kidnapping group but one did not turn up to court. I was playing the court 'typewriter', typing up the scene as evidence.
Then in that scene we did a flashback (Miss William's Advice) of when the kidnap happened, also evidence to the audience that the two present kidnappers are either lying or telling the truth. and then that shows the audience how the kidnap happened and

Tia Williams: Kidnap Witeness gives her opinion and witness report on the kidnap.
Georgee Frost: Old Man's Lawyer gives her judging and back up on the kidnap.
Mohammed Jahed: Judge controls the court.
Shakeel: Kidnapper in section being questioned.
Suleman Miah; Kidnapper in section being questioned.
Megan Fan: Typewriter, Reporting the court trial in live evidence.
Connor Brookes: 3rd Kidnapper that could not be present, in hospital from shot wounding.

I am showing my character, as the 'Typewriter' by sitting in a chair, near the Judge's table, looking very serious and typing. Although, i am unable to clearly show this because i do not have a proper typewriter. Perhaps, we could decide to write instead, however this is not realistic because in a real court scene they use a type writer because writing would be an un-reliable source because the handwriting could be messy and illegible or they could change the scene easily.
