On Tuesday 15th February, The drama lesson was on a brand new topic! All the class was very excited, including me. We learned a lot about how to express and show your 'Status' in how you act without saying what you are. At the start of the lesson we did a warm up excersise which was called 'The Sun Shines On' which is basically about someone in the middle announces something for example 'The sun shines on if you've got hair' and the people who have move seats with another person and so forth. We also played a really fun excersise where a few students stood on the front and Miss Williams gave us a number to hold on our foreheads, we weren't allowed to see.
The numbers 1-10, 1 was the lowest status (Poor) and 10 was the highest status (rich) and only the people around you could see your number and the way people reacted to us, signalled how we were to react to them and others. This showed me that the way people act towards you, can also show what status THEY are at and what status they think YOU are at.
We also got parts of the script 'Blood Brothers' to read between our partners. Everyone got different parts, and it was very fun acting between each and understanding the given circumstances just by that small piece of script.
I worked with Georgee Frost and we both were women in our part of the script. Georgee was a higher status (Mrs Lyons), and i acted as a lower status (Mrs Johnstone) We discovered this through the text and the language the script used for each person. Also the fact that Mrs Johnstone WORKED for Mrs Lyons as a house servant or some other.
We also created our own little status acts. I worked with Georgee and Shakelun in this and it was based around The 3 P's. People/Place/Problem. Ours was taken place in a shopping store and it was very full. Shakelun (Business Lady) bumped into two other people Me and Georgee (Higher status stuck up little girl and stuck up mother) and we talk in very stuck up voices and the business lady starts calling us rude and the scene goes on.
